Suicide, due to bullying, has become out of control, according to many sources. Over time it has changed into a more powerful enemy than it was originally. Too many bullies push their victims to the point of death. Bullying to death must be made illegal and the those involved be held responsible in a court of law for their actions against the victim. Bullying has grown and changed into a deadly emergency.“Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, [15-24 years olds] resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to the CDC.” (bullyingstatistics.org) Suicide is excessive in our communities and needs to be dramatically reduced. Children get bullied by mothers, fathers, siblings and even complete strangers on the street. Our lives have become almost saturated with bullies and it is killing our American youth. “The National Alliance on Mental Health 2014 reported suicide was one of the most common psychiatric emergencies. ” (nobullying. com) Even when bullying does not lead to death, it still causes problems, “The Center For Disease Control reported that students that experience bullying are twice as likely to have negative effects. These effects are depression, sleep difficulties, anxiety, and trouble adjusting to school. They are twice as likely to get stomach aches and headaches.” (nobullying. …show more content…
When Ebola showed up in the USA again almost everyone got upset and only 3 people were afflicted by it. Bullying has been around for a lot longer time, and in just 2009 alone over 36,000 committed suicide and “Over 16% of students seriously consider suicide, 13% create a plan, and 8 percent have made a serious attempt.” (nobullying.com)
Despite the statistics of suicides, the potential suicides make matters much worse, “For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it.” (bullyingstatistics.org 2) and “Suicide is the third leading cause of death according to the Center for Disease Control.” Bullying has such a great impact that, “Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims.” (bullyingstatistics.org1

Kathy Shaidle’s article “In Defense of Bullying” states that bullying is good on the development of youth to strive for more. That not many adolescence kill themselves due to bullying and anti-bullying actually is just creating more bullies.
