Cyber harassment has come about and is the use of technology to cause harm towards another in a harsh manner. In an online article State Cyberstalking and Cyberharassment Laws, the article stated that “Cyberharassment usually pertains to threatening or harassing email messages, instant messages, or to blog entries or websites dedicated soley to tormenting an individual.” Both cyberbullying and cyber harassment are fairly the same due to the involvement of social media. Cyber bullying can be anything from the bully posting cruel pictures online to threats through social websites. Harassment turns into bullying when a threat has been made toward the victim. Bullies both on and offline may be harassers. Yet, not all harassers are bullies. The use of bullying or harassing someone online is the intention to defame or ruin the victim’s reputation. The code of conduct is out of date and needs to be updated for the high school student’s sake. It was until teen case’s like Jessica logan’s that high schools across the nation had realized that what the school was doing was not enough and things needed to be changed. It is depressing that multiple students across the nation had to take their own lives before schools took action. Now schools are informed when something out of the ordinary is happening to a student online. Still in some cases schools do carry out the code of conduct yet the incidents continue to happen. In which most cases the bullying and harassment does carry on and maybe even gets even more hateful. This is when it may determine if the incident will turn out to physically deteriorate the victim. If required, the police force get involved and attempt to stop the bullying or harassment at the main source. Bullying and harassment is not an issue taken lightly in the United States
