The greatest difference between bullying in the face-to-face classroom and the online classroom is the identity veil that technology provides the perpetrator. He or she can bully his (her) victim from anywhere in the world while remaining anonymous (Levin, n.d.). Feeling hidden could give the perpetrator not only a feeling of freedom, but a disconnect from the victim, and leave the perpetrator feeling that they are doing less wrong than if the bullying was being done face-to-face with the victim.
