Bullying Something that every school has in common all over the world is the problem with bullying. In the documentary Bully made by Lee Hirsch in 2011, shows the life of kids, the family of these kids and the hell that each is put through. There are five youth lives that the documentary follows, but there are two kids that weren’t in the movie because they took their lives because of all the bullying. The three kids that are alive that are followed are Ja’meya, 14, Alex, 12, and Kelby, 16. Throughout the documentary, director Lee Hirsch uses logos, ethos and pathos to prove his point that bullying is evil. This is the strongest piece of work that is about bullying and how it effect kids and the families. The way the movie was shot was perfect, it felt like I was there in the school, living room, and so many more places. There was a small part with the principle of Alex’s school asking the kids who bullied him about why they did. I wish they would have had more pieces like that in the movie because it made me even more interested in the problem. I have done research about bullying before and most of the time the kids that are getting bullied are also getting bullied at home by either other sibling, parents or even old kids that live close to them. Bullying is a huge problem in American schools. I know it happens around the world but I am not sure how bad it is. Too many young kids take their lives because of all the harassment they get at school. I am still shocked at the little 11 year old boy who took his life. I have never heard of such a young soul to end their life. He never got to experience what life is like but to him life was never going to get better. Back in Elementary School I was a bit of a bully but I saw how mean I was and changed my ways when I left for middle school. Seeing how the schools deals with bullying makes me sick. They just turn their heads the other way and hope for it to fix its self. Now with young kids able to access the internet so easy it will only become more a problem. When I grew up I never had such an easy access to the internet so it was never a problem in schools, but cyber bullying is the new form of bullying that is taking off. Teaching kids a young age that any form of bullying is bad would help the issue. It wouldn’t completely stop the problem but it defiantly slow the problem down. I hope every kid can see this documentary so they can see how bad bullying is to others. No kid or parent should go thought the hell of bullying or worse losing their child.
