Observing can be a very important part of science, while doing fine arts in-depth observations are often needed to be made. For example, if someone is drawing a flower, most of the time they need to pay attention to where the light is hitting it, how big it is, and what the colors are. This contributes back to if you are observing a flower in science class, you need to note the size, color and anything else that would be beneficial for people to understand. Although it is very evident that these skills do contribute back to core learning, it is still an unresolved debate that is dating back to the 1800’s (Baker). Even when school was not the most important thing for your child to be doing, people believed that it was important to have fine-arts programs. The first documentation of fine arts being fought for is in 1836 when a report was made to include music classes in curriculum to help prepare students for other classes (Baker). Another study as to if arts contribute to core classes is the “Mozart Effect”. This effect proves that while listening to classical music, such as a Mozart sonata, before taking a test makes the student's score improves (Baker). Although the effect only lasted about fifteen minutes after the music is listened to, it still sparked interest toward many scientists which led to many similar experiments which had similar outcomes. This even caused the Governor of Georgia in 1998 to include …show more content…
Everybody is accepted no matter what the circumstances. For example, students and all people who have a learning disability often use fine arts. It can be used as a way for them to express the way they are feeling if they can not do it with words. They are taught to play music, paint, and dance to help them. Since they can not learn in sufficient ways like students without disabilities it is good for them to be able to have this program. One instance in which arts was used to help disabled was in 1993 when the “Lab School of Washington” was opened (Jost). This school, along with others, make it a priority to base classes off of arts programs. Any and everybody can enjoy fine arts and should be encouraged to do
