Buddhism is arguably one of the most tolerant religions in the world, as its spiritual beliefs transpire with any other religion. Buddhism was founded by a prince named Siddhartha Gautama, who lived in Lumbini which is present day Nepal. He was born into a royal family but later realized that wealth and luxury could not guarantee true happiness. After a long six years of meditation and study, Siddhartha discovered the, “middle path” and soon became enlightened. After he reached enlightenment, he spent the rest of his life teaching the principles of Buddhism. The Buddha was not a God and never claimed to be, he helped others reach enlightenment through his own experience. Buddhism goes beyond a religion; it is a way of living, to lead a moral life, being mindful of your own thoughts and actions, and to develop wisdom and understanding.

They raise money for other temples in Cambodia by having ceremonies and fund-raisers in their local temples regularly. One example of contributing to the temples fundraisers, Brandon explained that they have one event where in exchange for a five-dollar donation, they receive a bracelet or necklace that is blessed by a monk. By blessed he stated, “the monks would have us seated in front of them and prayers were said along with being anointed by holy water”.
