Buddhism Compare And Contrast

Over the course of this year we have learned about many different religions within many different empires and civilizations. Two of these religions we learned about are Islam and Buddhism. Islam is a monotheistic religion that has one God, Allah, as the face of its religion and follows the teachings of their holy book, the Quran. Buddhism is considered neither monotheistic nor polytheistic. It is considered neither monotheistic nor polytheistic because there are no gods in charge of the religion. Buddhists worship a man who they call Buddha, who was an everyday man who they believe to have been the first person to achieve enlightenment without being guided. Buddhists believe that Buddha has been to the heavens and spoke to the gods. Even though these religions may have more differences than they do similarities, they still believe in and worship many of the same things. Buddhists believe that there is an existence of heaven and hell and that they both are populated with divine beings. Believers of the Islamic religion believe that people who do good throughout their lifetime go to Eden, which is the same as the concept of heaven in other religions, including Buddhism. Both religions also have beliefs that there are angelic figures in heaven and demonic figures in hell. In order to go to heaven in both religions you must do good and helpful things throughout your lifetime. The people who go to hell are people who do wrong and hurtful things while they are
