There are many different types of religions in the world. Buddhism and Hinduism are the two main religions of Ancient India. Both religions share many similarities based on their beliefs, however, in the same light they both share many differences. The basic aspects of Buddhism and Hinduism sets the two religions apart. According to the textbook, Buddhism is defined as, “a religion and philosophy based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama in about 500 B.C.E. Principally practices in China, India, and other parts of Asia, Buddhism has 360 million followers and is considered a major world religion. “Buddhism consist of four Noble truths. The four Noble truths included the existence is suffering, the cause of suffering is craving and attachment, suffering ceases at some point and turns to Nirana (liberation or total bliss) and there is a path to Nirana which Is made up of eight steps, also known as the Eightfold path. Buddhism and Hinduism place emphasis on the illusory nature of the world and the role of Karma. Karma is defined as “what goes around, comes around” in which can be considered the simplified belief of both religions. Buddhism and Hinduism both focus on peace and nonviolence. They also believed in various types of spiritual practices such as meditation, state of mind, and concentration. Samsara, which is the repeating cycle of birth, reincarnation, and karma, was a key part of both religions. Hinduism and Buddhism are much alike, yet different at the same time. Both religions are still being followed in India today, even though there are more people of the Hindu faith than the Buddha faith. Hinduism and Buddhism are two of the most influential and profound religions around the world. They have survived for centuries and are also among the top five major religions around the
