Another element the artist used was the use of red, black, and orange (by mixing red and yellow) colors. The black creates a contrast to the orange and reveals the importance of the figures in orange. The basic hue of the vase is red and…
The artist Jacopo Zucchi was born in Italy in 1540 and passed away in 1596. He was a painter in the 16th century. When I went to the Yale Art Museum, I saw his painting “The Assembly of the Gods”. The painting was created in 1575, which was the period of the renaissance. It was located in the second floor in the ‘European Art’ collection area.…
The painter Parmigianino, in his art piece, Madonna with the long neck, captures a fused narrative that comes from another art piece, “Vision of Saint Jerome”. The piece portrays the virgin Mary holding a young baby Christ. The piece is an oil painting that measures 7 by 4 feet, and was created between the years of 1534 through 1540. Unfortunately the piece was never finished because the artist became deceased.…
The colors for the main focal point in the mural are light emphasizing light tones and shades on the white settlers and light brown smoothness on the Indians. However, The background is a more heavy and darker compared the realistically done humans in a conflicting battle. The white settlers are detailed with a cream color for their skin, while their hair is dark brown and given tent of black for some dimension and contrast. Also on the white settlers, their armor is shaded with silver and white for the top portion and their weapons, but at the bottom they are given a brown is tone matching the Indian’s skin and also the animals. The brown on the Native Americans possibly depicts the intention of putting them in the same worth level as the animals and clothing of the white settlers.…
The artwork I chose to imagine is Van Gogh’s famous oil painting called Starry Night. It was painted in June of 1889 and has grown to be known as one of his most famous paintings. Van Gogh was a post-impressionist and painted Starry Night from memory in his apartment. The view is of a village from a window in an asylum. I chose this painting because it has always been hanging in my Aunt’s living room.…
In the first chapter of Buddha Boy we get introduced to two main characters, Justin and Jinsen. The narrator of this story is Justin. Justin tells us about the social structure of his high school, Edward Rucher High School. The readers find out Justin is in the middle of the social structure with two of his friends, Megan and Jakob. Then Jinsen, the new kid, comes into the cafeteria asking for money.…
Art is like a window to the mind, representing how one thinks or what one feels. In some cases, it may contain elements from one’s unconscious; elements that even they are not aware of themselves. Art has zero qualifications, allowing it to be crafted by anyone and everyone, while still containing components of its creator and provoking feelings in its spectators. (Rustin, 2008) Of the pieces involved in the Best of the Season exhibit at the Webber Gallery, Lunch With Einstein by David D’Alessandris is one of the more “unusual” pieces. It contains four figures, whose heads seem to be taken from elsewhere and pasted onto their bodies.…
Buddhism was first accepted by the lower class. Many Confucian scholars and high ranking officials begin to consider Buddhism a threat. Some people thought that Buddhism poisoned their culture, while others thought it was the greatest thing in Chinese history. The people in China respond in different ways to the Buddhism.…
Question 1: Hinduism 1) The image shows a skull, becoming a baby, a boy, a teenager, a man, elderly, then a skull again and then it repeats into the distance. This depicts the Hindu belief of reincarnation because it is saying that after someone dies, they go through life again and start their new form after their death. The objects the boy stages, teen stages, and man stages are holding depict the different lessons you learn in life. The almost white line going through the bodies of all the different reincarnations almost is representative of their soul passing throughout the person life and death and through to each new reincarnation.…
In question 1, looking only in the South and Southeast Asian galleries, looking for a Buddha image whose subject is the Miracle of Enlightenment. I found the Buddha called “Seated Crowned Buddha with Four Scenes of His Life” shows an image of Miracle of Enlightenment. The Buddha is from India and the date of the Buddha is from 1100-1200. The Buddha’s accession number is B60S569. The head is covered by crown, probably it presents that this Buddha was a prince.…
They are too small beyond recognition, so viewers can just make out a figure. Some artworks that impressionists in the 19th century created share some commonalities with this painting. Impressionists depicted the nature with phenomenology excluding political, social, historical thought. They just focused on nature itself, so people are usually cropped or are represented by blurry silhouettes. The big difference from impressionism and the distinct feature of this painting is that what the artist wants to deliver is small philosophy, which is harmony between humanity and nature.…
In the painting, Christ is illuminated by being colored in with very pale colors, but he surrounded by a myriad of colors. Each person depicted in the painting, especially those in the foreground, are each wearing clothes that have different hues, such as the Virgin is wearing blue while the Saint John is wearing red. The colors of each of their clothing are quite intense adding to the energy of the scene. There is also a mix of warm and cool tones throughout the painting, which adds the disorder of the painting. Another important aspect of the painting is the use of color in the middle ground and background.…
Both panels portray the consubstantial ideology of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All three members are created of the same essence, but are not the same being. Jesus is the supreme authority and no one is equal to his divinity. Both bottom portions of the painting illustrate the use of dark colors to signify the physical and emotional pain and sorrow that overwhelmed the people. However, the prime distinction between the paintings is that in one Christ and his followers suffer in great pain and grief, while in the other, Christ is the chief judge deciding the fate of mankind.…
Although many elements exist in this artwork, these elements are clearly the most significant. The colors displayed in this work are important because of the low intensity quality it provides. This is an altarpiece, placed behind the altar table where people kneel to pray. The artist utilizes several shades of gray and brown, which provides a certain serenity. There is also some shades of red and orange which offers balance and counteracts a dismal appearance.…
The most fascinating thing about art is the difference and diversity between works of art. The drastic uniqueness of arts between periods is something that is interesting to look at because one gets to see how much changes can be made due to cultural influences and time. After visiting the Met and seeing the works of art in person, I have chosen the Statute of Dionysus Leaning On A Female Figure and the Standing Buddha Offering Protection to explore in depth. The Standing Buddha Offering Protection is an Indian sculpture made during the late 5th century. It is only 85.5cm tall and it is constructed out of red sandstone.…
