First off, Bud’s mom wouldn’t have died. Modern day advances in medicine and doctoring has ensured the fact of Bud’s mom’s survival. In Chapter 1, it notes that Bud’s mom died from illness. She could have died from a fever or basically anything. Now, today, we have fever droppers and vaccines for around any sickness. I assure you, Bud’s mom would have survived. She could have gone to the hospital and gotten the medical help she needed, whether if it was extremely dangerous or extremely common. Also, if modern day medical advances had been used back then, then maybe the baby at the cardboard jungle wouldn’t have been sick, or it would have been kept in better medical condition. …show more content…
In Chapter 3, and most of the time when Bud was at the Amoses, they were very racists, even talking down on their own race. Whenever Bud was in the cardboard jungle, a white family separated themselves from the other blacks, because “even in hard times, ain’t no white people gonna be sitting with a black sinner”. If segregation hadn’t stricken our country at that time, Bud could have gained a new respect for white people. The band could have performed without keeping a white man. What I am trying to say is, segregation and the way blacks were treated affected the whole book, and if written now, Bud’s life would have been
