Buckyball Research Paper

Improved Essays
A Buckyball is made using paper strips that forms a ball when the strips are weaved together in a hexagonal pattern. But why do the folds form a hexagonal weave? As long as the strands are the same with and length, all the fold will create a 60 degree angle. Since a ball is a sphere, all the angles of a sphere must be the same. If the strips always form a 60 degree angle, then it will form a perfect ball. The strips are number and letter coded. You have to match the corresponding numbers printed on the strips to form the hexagons. As you weave the hexagons, it forms the Buckyball.
