Cherry Hill, New Jersey – It was quite an outstanding gravel rally debut for Bucky Lasek, one of the Subaru Rally Team drivers. In addition to finished seventh overall, Lasek also reached the podium in his own class. He was behind the wheel of the new Subaru Parts Online rally car, the 2016 Subaru WRX STI. Lasek drove a careful and measured rally, slowly getting comfortable with his car's handling. He was helped by Rhianon Gelsomino, an experienced co-pilot, and her notes about the course.

Lasek's teammate and the current Rally America point leader and series champion David Higgins didn't manage to finish the race after suffering a hard impact on the second day. Before being forced to abandon the rally, Higgins had a comfortable lead over the other drivers. Nonetheless, he remains at the top of the 2016 standings moving towards the final two rounds this season.

The Subaru Marketing Manager, Rob Weir, stated the company was happy for Lasek's excellent showing in his first real gravel rally this season, while at the same time expressing disappointment about Higgins' mishap. He mentioned this should be a big boost for Lasek's confidence before entering the upcoming Red Bull Global Rallycross in Washington, D.C.

This year's New England Forest Rally should feature in Launch Control, an award-winning motorsport web-series. Launch Control has recently debuted its fourth season, and new episodes are being released every second Wednesday. You can watch Launch Control on Youtube, on the Subaru of Americas channel. The web-series is also available on the Subaru Motorsports
