The issue of contaminants in the water source affected Buckeye Lake area in the Ohio. The lake used to be a thriving area because of the beautiful scenery that surrounds the area. Locals were able to drink the tap water until there was a public health advisory in effect for the lake area. It is suspected that radioactive material is contaminating the drinking water. Extra precaution needs to be taken when drinking the water, especially for the elderly, children and immune-compromised persons (Environmental Protection Agency, n.d.) Consistent monitoring of the lake’s water will assist the community in knowing when to avoid drinking tap water or to boil the water before hand.
