1. THE PLOT
Buck went into the primitive. Primitive is an early stage or development of something. Buck was treated very good by the Judge Miller family. In chapter one, Buck was “dog-napped” by the gardener Manuel, while the Judges were not home. So then Buck went “into the primitive”, he was mistreated and abused for the first time. So it was the early stage before more horrendous events began. Buck was not used to this sort of abuse and was very confused on what was happening. He was being sold, and there was talk that Buck was worth. It is 1897, many people from all over the world are traveling north. Reason is, there is a Klondike strike, in Alaska, east of Canada. People needed big dogs to carry around their sleds to get to the gold

He is stronger mentally and physically. He finally showed his owners that he was a great sled dog. The author included Buck to show that whenever you work really hard on something you should get a chance to show your talents. Buck is a very good sled dog and he was able to show his owners that he was. Since Buck is now the best sled dog, the other dogs will try to work very hard to be a better sled dog.
Dave- Dave was such a determined dog. Mentally he was so strong, but physically he was weak. Dave was very sick but he did not want to leave the sled’s harness. He did end up dying in this chapter. Dave was such a determined dog. He did not

care if he was going to die he still wanted to do what he loved. The author included Dave to show that whatever you do give it your all and do your best. That’s exactly what Dave did in this chapter. Dave is really inspiring and he showed to never give up.
Francois & Perrault- Mentally they both doubted Buck that he was a good sled dog. Then they finally paid attention to buck and saw that indeed he was a good sled dog. Sadly, they sold Buck and all of the other sled dogs. They were crying and giving Buck a hug. The author mentioned Francois and Perrault to show that whatever you do people are always going to doubt you. Buck did not care what they said.
