Buck In Ayn Rand's The Call Of The Wild

If these characters don’t accomplish their goal it could affect their life forever. Buck in the Call of the Wild is a dog who was thrown into the Klondike gold rush and is trying to survive harsh times. Farah Ahmedi in Escape to Afghanistan is a young girl living in Afghanistan who is trying to get to Pakistan away from danger. Aengus in The Song of Wandering Aengus a lonely man searching for love. However, although all persevered to accomplish their goals, not all of the individuals were successful.

Buck from The Call of the Wild starts his life simple living the easy life but, gets harder as he goes on. This made him feel like it was never ending. For example the narrator says “ He was glad for one thing: the rope was off his neck. That had given them an unfair advantage; but now that it was off, he would show them. (London Chap 1). This shows Buck’s persistence and his not willing to give up. It only got worse for Buck because in the end he has to survive on his own. For example the narrator says. “Buck multiplied himself, attacking from all sides, enveloping the herd in a whirlwind of menace, cutting out his victim as fast as it could rejoin its mates, wearing out the patience of creatures preyed upon, which is a lesser patience than that of creatures preying” (London Chap 7) Buck’s perseverance through it all is what helped him survive.

Through all the setbacks in life, she wasn’t going to stop. Farah Ahmedi’s first set back is her amputated leg. In addition to that she is also stuck in Afghanistan. For example she says “The gate to Pakistan was closed, and I could see that the Pakistani border guards were letting no one through” (Ahmedi Par 1). But, she doesn’t stop she finds another way, and perseveres through all of it and accomplishes her
