I am writing this to notify you of the events that took place this afternoon. I was contacted by SGT Saunders at 1239 stating to call him ASAP on his wife phone. After I made contact, SGT Saunders informed me that he was being charged with Child Neglect/Endangerment and needed someone to come to his location . He stated that he was located in the rear CASCOM parking lot adjacent to A Ave. After I arrived on the scene an officer approached me and stated they had been called around 1120 and the was told two young kids (2 and 4 y/o) were left in a car unattended. They arrived shortly thereafter and made contact with the kids around 1125. The car engine was running with the windows down. The officer stated he waited for about 20 mins with the kids before SGT Saunders returned to the car. The officer stated that SGT Saunders and his wife is being charged with Child Neglect/Endangerment and is being detained for processing. The officer stated he will allow them to follow him in their truck to the MP station. The officer also stated that it would take approximately one hour for processing, afterwards the Chain of Command would be allowed to pick both SGT Saunders and his wife. The officer stated that it was ultimately JAG's decision to bring formal charges in this process. …show more content…
At that point 1SG informed his wife that SGT Saunders needed to come back inside to resign a document. His wife proceeded out the door to notify him. In that moment, the Staff Duty NCO notified 1SG an MP was looking for CPT Templeton or herself at the East entrance. 1SG proceeded in that direction to no avail. SGT Saunders would have contacted someone from his Chain of Command but did not have access to his phone to notifiy
