I also want to deliver my sincere thanks to my adviser Professor Marcus for his support and encouragement during the time of my master’s degree studies. His advice has helped me throughout my time in the I-O Psychology Program.

Throughout completing the multiple ZAPS interactive activities, I learned a great deal about various important areas of psychological research. I reviewed topics such as student stress, emotional recognition using facial expression, personality traits, and face perception. Each ZAP activity included an exercise that closely related to the subject matter. The topics covered coincided with chapters in the textbook for psychology 200. A powerful motive for pursuing social or human services work are personal experiences. I chose to study and work in substance abuse counseling because I wanted the opportunity to do for others what my counselors did for me and my family. During and after my road to recovery I had continued experiences with family and friends who have or still are struggling with sobriety. After attending different types of counseling in different settings for myself and family members it became clear to me that addiction doesn’t discriminate. Addiction doesn’t care where you came from, who you came to be, or what your dreams are.…

As I just know the word “PSY” it would be mentioning about physical or something to do with the body. Then, doing some research about what Psychology will be teaching about from YouTube. Also, reading some articles from this website on what they will be mentioning about what the body will reacts to some situations. In the past months as learning about the basic about Psychology 101 this would be an advantage in taking the next step of becoming a police officer which I could use it to think like a victim and mange an issue or situation into peace that everything could be resolved in a matter of a way.…

Why do people choose to fight, where others may decide to flee in a fight or flight scenario? Why do some express sadness and others show happiness in a time of pain? Psychology, which is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes, is research that helps to inform/prove why people act the way they do. There are many reasons to explain questions such as these, but there are seven distinct perspectives that help to demonstrate why. As seen in Laura A. King’s book “The Science of Psychology: An Appreciative View (4th edition)” there are seven contemporary approaches to psychology, that examine questions regarding human behavior.…

An area of Applied Psychology 1 that has captured my interest is the field of educational psychology. This field of study is interested with children and young adults in educational and early years’ settings (British Psychology Society (BPS), 2016). This has captured my interest as children are especially vulnerable during school years, due to a variety of reasons such as low self esteem. This could be due to learning difficulties such as dyslexia and behaviourial problems. I believe that I would find it rewarding to work with children to help them develop their own skills and abilities in regards to the obstacles shown early in their life.…

I have always been drawn to behavioral psychology, the phenomenon of learning, and educational processes. After discovering that I had a special talent for working with children and at-risk youth, I eagerly began my academic pursuit in elementary education. With ever-increasing learning demands, and limited time and resources, I quickly learned that inevitably some children fail to perform adequately among their peers. This reality came quite clear to me through my experience working and substitute teaching in a public elementary school.…
