In the modern era, if Courtly Love songs are still to be sung, I think it would consist of themes like jealously and hatred. The situation could end in a crueler and violent way such as the husband being jealous of the lover and killing him or the opposite. In my opinion, the modern era idea of Courtly Love would be “hooking up” and having a relationship call “friends with benefits”. Rather than loving someone passionately and trusting him or her fully, physical appearance plays a huge role in finding a lover.One of the main reasons why I chose Bruno Mars’s “Just The Way You Are” is because this song is very different from all the other popular love songs of this era.
