Bruno Is To Blame For Bruno's Death

Decent Essays
Bruno died a very tragic death and he is responsible for it. He disobeyed his mother many times and made the decision to go under the fence, consequently letting his curiosity get the best of him. One reason Bruno is to blame for his death is because he disobeyed his mother. She specifically told him to not play or explore in the backyard, which he disregarded multiple times. If he would have listened to his mother and just stayed in the front yard, he would have never met Shmuel and gotten killed. Although some say that his mother should have told him what was in the backyard, I disagree. His mother was just trying to protect him. Besides, I don’t know any parent that would tell their child about such a terrible thing. Another reason why Bruno ultimately caused his own death is because it was his own choice to go under the fence. …show more content…
Bruno knew what he was doing would not go over well with his family, but he did so anyway. To add on, Shmuel even warned Bruno that the Nazis didn’t like people him. Also Shmuel was uncertain with Bruno’s plan of finding his dad. If Bruno would have listened to his family and Shmuel, he might not have gone under the fence and died. Kotler etc. that the fence was not a place he should be. Bruno should have known that the fence was meant to keep people in and not for him to travel under. In conclusion, Bruno is to blame for his own calamitous death because he deliberately disobeyed his mother and made the decision to go under the

According to Time one of the major inaccuracies is how oblivious Bruno is to WWll and the Holocaust. He might only be 9 years old but he would at least know the name of the man that runs his country. Also he is old enough to know that the concentration camp is not a game, and that his family does not like Jewish people and he has to have caught up with the situation. It is also very inaccurate that Bruno does not know what a jew is and who Hitler is because that is practically all his parents talk about. Also Bruno is able to dig under the barbed wire fence and sneak in without anyone noticing but that would be impossible to do.…

Bruno is visually representing himself trying to hold onto the belief that his dad is a good man as that belief slips away. Bruno is still trying to fit in with two groups of people that can be seen as polar opposites during World War II: the Nazis and the Jews. He’s expressing how he wants to belong to both of these groups at once, buts he’s struggling to see the Nazis as virtuous people that he wants to belong with. Since Bruno wants to fit in with a group of more agreeable people, the struggle will end in Bruno not fitting in with his father and other individuals like him. This fits in to the bigger theme of how individuals want to be viewed as similar to the group we belong with, whether to look cool or to look like a better…

In addition, during the process of Bruno’s families move out of Germany to Out-With, Bruno has more thoughts about how evil his sister is, “Bruno was sure that it would have made a lot more sense if they had left Gretel behind in Berlin to look after the house because she was nothing but trouble. In fact he had heard her described on any number of occasions as being Trouble From Day One”(Boyne 15). The purpose of this quote is to use imagery to display how not only Bruno sees his sister as being trouble but others see her in the same way. This means that she does not have the same kind loving traits Katniss and Peter constantly display as older siblings, which is why Bruno dislikes her so much. This dislike towards his sister is the result of her negative behaviour towards him, and is why he acts the way that he does.…
