Bruce Levenson is a former NBA team owner and a humanitarian as well as a businessman. Mr. Levenson was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Maryland. He went to college in St. Louis at Washington University followed by American University for law school. He worked for the Washington star while he took law courses at night. He is one of the founders of the UCG that is United Communications Group. He and Ed Peskowitz formed this company in 1977. UCG is a business info company that focuses on information. They compile and sift the needed data for many industries. Mr. Levenson is also one of the founders of Tech Target and he was director of the company from 1999 until 2012. Levenson is an adviser to many. He has worked for private equity firms and helped corporations make important decisions. Mr. Levenson has been on the Boards of many companies and associations. Levenson believes in and supports a number of charities. Including the Hoop Dreams Foundation, I Have a Dream Foundation, and the Community Foundation of Washington, D.C. He is a proud contributor to the U.S. Holocaust Museum. He also believes in and supports Seeds of Peace in addition to the SEED Foundation. The experts originally hired by Mr. Levenson to sell the Atlanta Hawks gave him inaccurate price expectations regarding the selling of his interest in the team. He decided to sell the hawks as well as the operating rights to Philips Arena. His representative told him he should expect 1 billion dollars from the sale. The actual figure seems far more realistic in today’s financial environment. The sale of the Atlanta hawks is finally being finished Levenson in addition to a group of investors who paid 250 million dollars in 2004 are looking to turn quite a profit. Levenson let the world know he was looking to sell the team in 2014.The Group sold the Thrashers in 2011 for 170 million and will now be selling the Hawks for 850 Million.
