Bruce Catton Research Paper

Decent Essays
Bruce Catton was a well known American journalist and historian with many of his works being about the Civil War. Born on October 9, 1899 in Petoskey, Michigan, Catton lived a regular life as a child until he decided to get into journalism. During this time, Catton also worked as a reporter on many news channels. Once Catton went to Oberlin College in Ohio, he soon became a Navy Seal in World War 1. Spending two years in the Navy gave Catton his own war filled background and it was what inspired him to continue in his journalism career. With the devotion to know more about the Civil War, Catton decided to join a Newspaper Enterprise Service and he also worked in the U.S War Production Board. Then, in 1959, Catton was promoted almost immediately
