Brown University Pre-College

The summer before senior year of high school, I spent three weeks on a Brown University Pre-College Program, traveling to numerous Spanish cities, including Madrid, Córdoba, Salamanca, Seville, and Segovia. Every day, we were confronted with another challenge, such as the language barrier and the one hundred degree, dry heat, but these obstacles were outweighed by the various unique cultures of the country. The love of food and music, historical architecture that has been influenced by so many countries and cultures, wild and diverse landscapes, and passionate people evoked my love of traveling, new experiences and immersion in diverse cultures.
A few months after this defining trip, I began applying to over ten colleges and universities, even though I knew exactly which school I wanted to attend. When I visited Bucknell University as a sophomore in high school, I was mesmerized by every aspect and was convinced, after only a few hours on campus, that it was my “dream school”. I had known for years that I would apply early decision to the university and worked so hard, throughout my high school career, to be accepted. When I received my decision letter in the mail, I ripped it open and did not read past the words “Congratulations, Madalyn...” before a wave of excitement and relief consumed me. I hope to contribute my dedication leadership skills in classes and student organizations. I hope that am constantly challenged, both socially and intellectually. I hope that the school offers academic or internship programs abroad so that I can broaden my global perspective. Lastly, I hope that I have access to opportunities so that I can eventually become a leader within the business world. Now, I can only hope that the school will consider
