In the Brothers Grimm version of Cinderella, Cinderella’s step-sisters must sacrifice their heel/toes to fit into the shoes. They do this because they wish to marry the prince. In the sanitized version, they simply agree after a while that they will never have a chance. In other words, they give up. This will teach them the dangers of the real world and give them better expectation of the future. If they only read the sanitized versions, they will think that that is how the world is. They might also assume that every problem ends happily. However, they will be shown that, in the real world, problems will not always have a simple answer. Sometimes they will be very complex. They will also learn that sometimes the best option is not always right. They’ll also see that sometimes the right answer is not always the easiest. Lastly, children will need to learn that there are going to be risks to take to achieve what they want. They’ll discover that not everything will simply be given to them. In conclusion, the original Brothers Grimm version of fairy tales would be the best choice to teach children as they grow
