Brother Caudle: Song Analysis

Improved Essays
About a week ago Brother Caudle asked, and I use that term loosely because there really was no asking involved, me to give my Talk today on how the song that we just sang affected my life and how I am preparing to serve a mission. To be prepared for your mission you must have the simple things down. Things such as having a testimony of the church, which is the simplest thing yet also the most powerful and important. I feel this is one of the most major connections we can have to God so that when you become a missionary and begin to teach his children we can have the spirit to be with us, because even though the missionaries are the ones out there teaching they aren't teaching alone, but rather being guided by the spirit, making up for all …show more content…
This idea is well represented in the song we just sang, which is why this talk today is actually much more stressful than usually because back when i was writing it, knowing fully how great we usually sound but also how bad we sometimes sound but not knowing how we just sounded today. This hymn, personally, is one of my favorites. It speaks to me and brings the spirit so well for me every time because i do need him every hour. I am weak without him but with him I'm strong, im not perfect of course but from watching the lives of others i can see, life is a lot easier with the spirit then without it. We all know life is a form of a test, and any test is easier when you’ve someone who knows all the answers whispering in your ear if we'll only listen to him. Yeah, I know I for one am about as stubborn as it gets sometimes so I'm guilty for putting down what i want the answer to be instead of what I know the it is. But that's the beauty of having a savior. “I need thee every hour, most gracious lord” he’s there to help, he’s already taken all of our tests, he knows us and what we need help on. “Oh bless me now my savior, I come to

Good morning, today I was asked to talk about the talk by Bonnie L. Oscarson of this last conference, and explain my feelings towards it. I read the talk and felt that we as young men & young women should give more service to the church. In the talk by Bonnie L. Oscarson, It stated, “Each person has something important to contribute and has unique talents and abilities that help the important work along.” The abilities that we as young women have help the service to spread like a weed. The big change that has helped spread this weed is the prophet just pronounced that 14 and older are now able to start ministering.…

There are many things in the world that hold a significant value, such as music. Music allows people to relate to a song by studying the elements it possesses, which creates a certain feeling that corresponds with the song and mood of the listener, therefore, making the song have a significant value. Most songs that have a significant meaning are written on a personal level by the artist. “The best thing about fostering short-term missions with a long-term view is to see God work over time” (Page 47). While in Alaska, I heard stories from people about past trips and how things change each time they come, I heard stories about people accepting the grace God has given them; these stories would not have been possible without the relationships built over time. I will use this going forward because if I am ever asked to lead a mission trip I will want to try and set it up as a trip that can be repeated every year, I do not want it to be a trip we go once and…

What better way to draw near and learn about my Heavenly Father, than to forge a relationship with His Son. I have not yet read through all of the Gospels, but have studied them on and off over the last seven years. Therefore, for this particular stepping stone on my journey, I plan to work my way through the Gospels, and spend time with my Savior. Throughout these times, I foresee myself engaging in prayer, reading scripture, doing some self-examination, journaling, and/or silently sitting in His presence.…

While serving a two-year mission away from home in Colorado and Wyoming for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have faced innumerable obstacles. The amount of disappointment, failure, and stress I've been through is beyond anything I imagined before serving as a missionary. Through the heartache and pain, I've had the opportunity to learn moral lessons, leadership skills, communication skills, perseverance, charity, and several other lessons that will be fundamental to leading a successful life. To create a mental image of the anguish I went through, I would like to provide several facets of my experience. On 25 July 2017 I began my journey of the most demanding 6 weeks of my life.…

In order to be a devout believer, I must become infatuated with the Gospel and pursue Jesus fervently. I must physically display Christ’s love to my patients, my instructors, and my classmates. As a team member of Student Center Activities Board (SCAB) that works for Student Life Programs here at Cedarville, I will strive to physically display Christ’s love and grace to both unbelievers and believers through my conversations with them. I need to become more like Christ and be sensitive to Christ trying to mold me in order to grow in this…

I asked myself the question “how can we make a long-term effect on a short-term mission trip?” This idea centered around the lessons we were teaching the children throughout the day. I noticed that the children we well informed about God and how to become a Christian. Pastor Vernon gives them lessons every week, probably the same lessons we were giving them. The children were hungry for more than a preschool version of the bible.…

Through my experience I could say I can do all things with Christ who strengthens me. " Can do all things" doesn't mean victory such as being champion with trophies in different contest, or being honor with medals but true victory often happens far away form the crowd. In Christ, we will certainly see joyful times, just as anyone does. But what truly sets us apart as followers of Jesus is that we can find victory in the most difficult trials. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.…

Through fire, metal is refined and defined purer and stronger as impurities are flaked away. With proper handling, the blacksmith forges the beauty from raw materials. Likewise, an individual who is faced with difficulties, sometimes almost too great to bear, is made sturdier and holier while enduring personal trials God allows in life. We all know this fire very well at some point in our days on Earth.…

Packer begins his book by emphasizing on knowing God. He points that “knowing about God is crucially important for the living of our lives” and promotes the study of theology (Packer 19). Deeper knowledge of God would lead to fear of the Lord because God is not just the God of mercy, but also the judgment. There may be a spiritual gap in the lives of many believers because they lack Biblical understanding and the full picture of God. Therefore, the church should equip saints with theological knowledge and teach complete character of God, not just his “positive” sides.…
