“The family has been separated before. In the late 1990s, as poverty and gangs were taking over the streets of El Salvador, Diana’s parents, Maria* and Miguel*, made a drastic decision…” They then later left their children with relatives to sneak to the U.S. and make a better life for their family. After a while gangs started believing the family was rich and threatened Veronica and Tony. Their parents hired smugglers to bring them into the U.S. so they all could be together again.
Though some believe they should stay together, others believe that they should be deported back. “Republicans tend to favor measures such as tightening border security to prevent more immigrants from coming here illegally… they say undocumented immigrants take jobs from Americans, commit crimes, and drain the country’s resources.” One man who will make sure they are deported back is Donald Trump. If Donald wins the presidential run he says he’ll undo Obama’s executive orders on immigration. Which means the Saravia family and many other families like theirs will be separated.
Furthermore the discussion on whether immigrants should be deported or have a chance to freedom ship is still highly talked about among the U.S. representatives. Imagine is families got separated and their kids were all alone just so that the immigrants don’t take all of America’s jobs or
