The problem that we see with that is most of the time they will go to low income neighborhoods and it just so happens that most of the low income residents living in that area are minorities creating a distrust in police by the social minority group. Broken window and Community Policing are similar because there is a resistance among the minority community. Broken window usually will target people of color and ticket them for spitting on the street however wont do the same if that person is white. It maintained order by applying stop and frisk as well as making laws vastly stricter. The predominant law, which was more laidback, is no longer in service. Giuliani and the police created a harsh environment to live in if you are a criminal diminishing any chance of anybody else wanting to do something illegal. Most would argue that it is not right to search people randomly, have police watch their neighborhoods, or even having the tables turned for small offences. However, that is the only thing that helped our city prevail and become one of the safest cities in America. Our police needs to help our community understand that they are here with the purpose to make our community a better, safer, a more reliable and sustainable city. Police are now spending time with members in their community for example playing a simple game of basketball in neighborhoods that had tension with the broken window theory as well as community policing. “Let me be clear - no one is above the law.
