“We have broken the laws” pg 1 said Equality 7-2521 in short story Anthem by Ayn Rand. Equality is a man that can see there is more to the world than their utopian community. Equality discovered, and invented things, he has never believe that could be possible. Equality’s world turned around because he began to rebel against everything he ever believed in his community. Equality knew it was a sin to discover things, and he didn’t understand why the council would keep certain things from he and the people. Equality was sinning in his community, but he wasn’t sinning in the past life before his society. He soon realizes that he can change people's lives by sharing these things that he knew was a sin from the past.

The more Equality discovered the more he sinned in his community. Equality knew he was sinning because he was alone, writing, and discovering things and that goes against his community. Equality stole from the House of the Scholars. He took glass vials, powders and acids. Equality began to discover things by melting strange metals, mixing acids, and dissecting animals. “These two years we have learned more than we had learned in the ten years of the Home of the Students”pg 36. Equality learning makes him want to rebel against the council because he is following his dreams of being a Scholar. “There is no shame in us or no regret” pg 37. When Equality got beat for not telling the Council of the Homes where he was at. That is how Equality knew his sin was so bad the Council will take everything away from him. Equality discovered this house in the forest and he found this house fascinating because he found so many things that were sins from his community. Equality found manuscripts, colors, and words he did not understand. “We see the dust of centuries, the dust which hid great secrets and perhaps great evils” Equality’s view about everything he learned was changing and he started to realize things have been discovered before his community like the electricity. “This word “We” must never be placed first within a man’s soul, else it becomes a monster” pg 96. The word “I” was a big discovery for Equality because he starts taking pride in the word by using it when he speaks about himself. Equality realizes that they were never sinning because everything the community is slowly learning is stuff that has been discovered and the word I became such a big deal to Equality that he had taken a lot of pride in the word. Equality has so much freedom and space like the people from the “unmentionable times”and because of that he learns from the books he read that they had actual names. Equality named himself Prometheus and named the Golden One Gea. Equality soon realizes that everything the council was hiding from he and the people were lies. He realizes that he never was in the wrong and the council didn’t want people to have egos. Equality wanted to change the lives of people by teaching him
