After being a child and seeing all the parties his parents threw was one of his happiest times as a family. Now that Dubus is an adult he has also become an author. With the title talking about how his father was a writer really shows how Dubus is taking and remembering the good of his life. Dubus’s father leaving him must of really shaped him as the person that he is today. Instead of insulting his father in the title he is very respectful of what his dad went through.
Ending with his father actually leaving paints a dark picture. His mother sobbing, his sister hugging and calling for him, his brother throwing rocks and most importantly Dubus himself trying to be brave like a soldier, like his father. When his dad left he was thinking about how they would buy food, or even get it without a car. From a very young age Dubus had to deal with things that a lot of people never have to. Memoirs are something significant from a writer’s past. His dad leaving made everything in his life more difficult, which is why Dubus ended it with his dad leaving and the reader
