Many teachers and students feel that these standards made are very suffocating. Many members of my family teach, and this is the commonality in all of their complaints as teachers. All of these guidelines and standardized tests make teaching way more difficult. They can’t make learning fun, which causes the hate of the STEM subjects. Common core, leads a course load heavy in math and science, which is nice, but over exposer can lead to students hating it. I agree that these standards should be looser and allow more wiggle room to figure out the best way to teach the material and keep the students attention. This will also cause less stress among both students and teachers and the overall scores on the tests would improve. All of this is very true, but mostly for the single classes. Each student, at least in high school, takes up to 7 classes plus extracurricular activities after school. That is a lot on one teenager’s back, and that could lead to some of the distaste in these
