I got my first job during the start of my junior year and at first, it was easily manageable to keep up with both school and work. As time progressed, it became clear as day that I was in way over my head, my maturity level was insufficient for the tremendous responsabitity of this major life event. Brockton High school is a very prestigious school and compared to other schools of similar size such as Durfee High school in Fall River our curriculum and performance is far superior. In Jodi Meltzer Darter’s very direct and informative Huffington Post article “No Homework Policy Lets Elementary School Kids Be Kids”, Darter informs the reader that before her children's school changed to a ‘No Homework Policy’, her children would get off the bus and immediately start an hours worth of homework. She acknowledged that she has always been a critic of the demands of elementary school children. Darter then goes into details, explaining that her kids don’t really get the chance to expel their energy during school other than the 20 minute recess. Because of the ‘No Homework Policy’ now implemented at her children's school, Darter then concludes that her children have better grades, they have the chance to be who they want to be,…

The goal of Boys & Girls Clubs is: “to provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school, on time, with a plan for the future.” As a Club staff with little weight behind me to support this goal, it makes me a stone’s throw away from being labeled a hypocrite when I almost didn’t graduate from high school, let alone have a plan for the future. My childhood wasn’t glamorous enough to brag about, nor was it full of grief-stricken struggles that would warrant a tug at any heartstrings. It was simple. I grew up with both of my parents and my brother who was 4 years my senior.…
