student to become a passionate learner and achieve his or her highest potential;” a clear

assessments came back and Brockton High had a 41% failure rate in ELA and a 77%

failure rate in math. The culture of Brockton High had become one with an underlying

philosophy that students had the right to fail. Creating and implementing a new vision

improvement is continuous and never ending has now become the culture of the school.

Many communities are concerned about the quality of education being received by their students. Sanoff in “High school fails to engage students,” when he explains that students don’t spend the sufficient time doing their homework or studying yet still obtain an A or B in their high school course. Have you ever been in a "flipped" classroom? Well picture this: Rows of desks filled with bored students filling out worksheets for 90 minutes to an hour and a half, while a teacher sits and eats their breakfast. Finally the students are home, but instead of doing some homework, they have to sit down and watch five or six lectures online, as if the day wasn’t long enough already. You may not have even heard of a flipped classroom before. Many people probably haven’t heard of this concept, as it is relatively new.…

Conti (2007) confirms that, in fact, educational philosophies exist for the sole purpose of empowering educators to encapsulate where education fits into the larger context of individual and social progress. An educational leader must possess and demonstrate various skill sets to positively impact his or her community. These include knowledge and ability to lead, a positive disposition, and the opportunity to demonstrate aforementioned skill sets in various collaborative settings as a mode of building capacity. First and foremost, an educational leader needs to be equipped with leadership knowledge.…

Education today, in my opinion, is not doing what it should be doing to ensure that America is actually living up to what it is known for...the land of opportunities. I believe that education should be about an empowering experience that helps students discover their passions, fosters their critical thinking skills, promotes an environment that accepts diversity, and encourages students to apply to skills to the outside world. This should be he purpose of American public schooling because it will help society adapt to changing times and encourage the growth of a well-rounded, modern, and accepting culture which in the long run help foster peace and equality. I am sure that there are many schools in America that try and foster all of things,…
