You may not be interested in outdoor swap meets when visiting Las Vegas, but then again, you may be from a place that doesn't have one. Or you may simply be here in Las Vegas for an extended vacation and want something to do besides what is offered on the Strip. Whatever the case may be, if you like swap meets and have the time, Broadacres Marketplace is the largest outdoor swap meet in the valley. In fact, to my knowledge it is the only one, but it is huge. I remember back in the 1980s, when I lived in southern California, I would go to an outdoor swap meet in Orange, California. It was at a drive-in movie theater. I think Broadacres is bigger than this. Sitting on 44 acres of land, half of this land is dedicated to sellers; the other half, of course, is for parking.

These sellers are more commercial oriented and have the same merchandise every week. Once you have seen their wares, you seen them forever, or at least until they get different inventory, but this doesn't happen too often. These sellers are usually be toward the front and along the sides of the swap meet. As you move deeper and towards the back of the swap meet, you will encounter sellers who may only be their on occasion. These are the types of sellers who have the most interesting merchandise, at least to me. Some of what they offer is like what you may find at a garage sell, but I have seen a lot of sellers who simply unload inventory that looks like they just brought it from a storage auction. Sometimes they don't even know what they have. But I enjoy rummaging through boxes and crates, then negotiating a good price for something I want. And if the seller doesn't know the value of the item, I often get a low price, with no need to
