He was on the floor when I entered her room, and I could tell from Brittney’s expression that he wasn’t just napping. We had had Bolt since before we drifted apart, and both of us have individually grown attached to him. Our parents came up, and saw Bolt. They ran over, and noticed a large lump near his brain. They immediately rushed him to the veterinarian. After the doctor was finished examining our dog, she came out and spoke to us. “I’m so sorry for you,” she began. “Bolt has a severe form of cancer in his brain. Unfortunately, chemotherapy and surgery don’t work on dogs, so there isn’t much we can do.” Brittney and I were about to start crying. People kept coming up to her and asking for answers, which she was stupid enough to provide. It was weird, though, because she was able to do complex algebra problems in her head, within seconds. Could one of her superpowers be being a genius? “Jonathon, look,” she said, still trying to make amends for yesterday. “I don’t want to hear it. First, you completely ignore me. Then, you tell me it was by force of habit. And now, you want to talk to me? I don’t want to hear it.” Just then, there was a loud explosion outside of the classroom, in the hallway. Everybody in the class turned around and looked out the window. Two people burst in through the door. One was a woman, tall and thin, with long, red hair that appeared to be on fire. She was wearing a yellow and orange leotard with red leggings and red boots. The leotard had an odd looking symbol on it; it looked like a flame. The other was a burly man, wielding an axe and wearing a black tank top with a skull on it. He war long, black jeans, and black boots. “Jonathon and Brittney Powers,” demanded the woman, “where are you?” Everybody in the class, including Brittney’s friends, turned around.
