A day of shopping with her daughter made Brittney Johnson realize just how much her actions impact her child. from the way she talks, acts, treats others, and herself.

The pair were walking through the mall when the mother watched as her daughter chatted with a man at Starbucks, told a woman in a restaurant "please," "thank you," and "I just love your hair!"

The little girl happily gave a high-five to the carousel worker, and gave her extra tokens away to another girl, but the moment became crystal clear to the mother when she was trying on swimsuits.

Johnson posted a fitting room photo with her daughter, about her mommy moment:
Her daughter was trying on a swimsuit top when she said:

"Wow I just love cheetah print! I think I look beautiful! Do you think I look beautiful too?!"..when it hit me that she only says what she hears. What she sees. I tell her that she is beautiful every single day."

She is polite at the order counter because she hears me when I'm polite to strangers everywhere. She gives compliments to people she doesn't know because she loves how it feels when she hears them.."
Johnson made sure to to try her best to make sure her daughter would keep acting that way, by choosing her words carefully:

    1) I liked how she starts her story with the emotional moment of the accident, that part made me feel dizzy and disorientated like her, at the beginning it was kind of hard to interpreted the text and what was happening at the time. The parts were the police were treating her like an animal really made me mad and I felt a little bit of impotence when hearing about how they waited so long to help her and they hurt her even more. I was actually disgusted but not surprised of the way the police treated her in the hospital, it was to be expected, besides she “killed” one of their own and on top of it she was a woman of color. I admire Assata greatly in this chapter, she is so brave and has a strong will of power, if I were in her place I would have cried and begged since the first punch to the stomach. I can connect the way they treated Assata during…

“Oppression: disguised freedom” "A girl should be two things: Classy and Fabulous," we have probably all heard this quote attributed to the famous designer Coco Chanel. I have personally heard many of my female friends praise it, but what caught my attention was how even in modern societies, we still come across norms and stereotypes like this surrounding the role that a woman should play in society.
