As a small town girl from Kentwood, Louisiana, Britney always wanted more. Britney Spears, a teenage girl who just wanted to follow her dreams and become a star took it a little too far and became crazy. From a young age Britney has always gone outside the box with everything she has done. From kissing Madonna to dancing with a snake on stage you can always count on her to take it to the next level. After her stardom in Mickeys show she just kept getting bigger. She then started opening up for *NSYNC at the age of thirteen. In 1999 at the age of 18, Britney released her first hit …Baby one more time. That same year Britney received Female artist of the year at the Billboard Music Awards. That next January she won favorite pop/rock new artist. In February she was nominated for two awards at the Grammys. Later that year “Oops…I did it again” hit the radios and broke the record for most radio adds in one day. That very song also sold 1.3 million copies sold within the first week. Her next awards show was the MTV music awards where she performed. Her performance began with Britney in a black suit ,which she tore off to reveal a nude-colored outfit covered with crystals. This was one of the first occurrences of Britney’s outside of the box ideas. This performance became controversial to everyone who saw because of her young age. After the controversy of the MTV performance was over, everything for Britney calmed down. In 2001 is when things for Britney picked back up. While at the club Lutfi agreed to be Britney’s manager, but there were a few conditions. The first condition was that Britney allow him to put a “varsity team” of top lawyers and agents together to work on behalf of Britney. The second condition was that Britney stopped using drugs. Lutfi also wanted to bring drug dogs to Britney’s house to get rid of all the contraband in which she agreed. Not long after Lutfi became her manager, he became very close to her family. He even served the purpose of being the family mediator. Lutfi eventually went into a joint synthetic- diamond business with Lynne, Britney’s mom. Britney became upset with this and accused her mother of conspiring with her ex-husband, Kevin to take her sons away. Sam Lutfi eventually put a restraining order against her. Lutfi’s attorney, Schleimer, told the jury that it was “because of the singer’s rampant amphetamine use that caused her downfall”. The attorney also said she “suffered from paranoid delusions”. He told the jury that his client would sometimes spend 24 hours a day preventing Britney from drug use. At one point of her downfall Britney shaved her head, which Schleimer protected the photo of so it wouldn’t get out.
