Background
Britney is a 7th grade student at Ann Arbor Middle School. She currently lives with her mother, father, twin sister, and younger brother (7 years-old). Britney enjoys writing short stories and playing the violin.

Medical History
Britney’s medical records indicate that she is a healthy 13-year-old with no evident medical conditions. She passed a hearing screen and vision screen with glasses on in 2016.

Academic History
Britney attended Ann Arbor Elementary School prior to Ann Arbor Middle School. She has always been enrolled in general education classrooms. Her grade card comments indicate that she has consistently been at the top of her class. Her academic record reports that her grades

During each observation, Britney sat in the front of the classroom. She raised her hand multiple times and waited to be called on. She demonstrated appropriate peer interactions during group work.

Test Results

The Wechsler Achievement Test-Third Edition (WIAT-III) measured Britney’s overall academic achievement in reading, math, and written expression. The WIAT-III is an individually administered instrument designed to assess the academic achievement of children ages 4 years through 19 years 11 months.

The examiner believes the following results are valid. This is because Britney and the examiner had built rapport before and throughout the testing, and because the test was taken in a quiet environment free of distractions.

Britney’s achievement level was determined by comparing her scores to those of her same-grade peers. For numerical test results and graphical information, see the Data Summary Appendix A.

She was referred for an evaluation as part of the examiner’s class assignment. Her parents and teachers report that she is a high achieving student with many interests and strong relationships with her peers. Based on interviews, observations, and assessment data, Britney is excelling in academic achievement. Her reading skills are above average, her written expression is superior, and her math skills are average. Her biggest strengths include spelling and writing.
