The British military has had many allies throughout history. France and England have always been allies. There has only been two wars where Great Britain and France fought against each other. Britain and France fought on opposite sides during the Anglo-French War (1202-1214) and the Saintonge War (1242). Besides these two wars, the two countries have been allies. France and the United Kingdom fought together in World War I and World War II on the side of the Allies. However, during the German occupation of France from 1940-1944, France was not a main power in the Allied Powers. Though many wars, usually smaller wars between small countries, Portugal and Britain have been allies. Even in larger wars, like World War I, Portugal and Britain …show more content…
The SAS Regiment is a corps of the British Army and a part of the United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF). The SAS Regiment is actually three regiments known as the 21st SAS Regiment, the 22nd SAS Regiment and the 23rd SAS Regiment. The 21st SAS Regiment is a part of the Regular Army, while the 22nd and 23rd regiments are a part of the reserve Territorial Army. Other British Special Forces include the Special Reconnaissance Regiment and the 18th Signal Regiment, which are both parts of the British Army, the Special Forces Support Group and the Join Special Forces Aviation Wing. The British’s uniforms severely changed when the war in Afghanistan began. An important and noticeable change in the British military is their uniforms. From 2001-2012 alone, the British military’s uniform has become more efficient and a lot more protective. Along with equipment, the actual colors of the uniforms have changed. The original British Army uniform was Desert DPM (Disruptive Pattern Material). This uniform was only useful while wondering through the desert. Now their military wears MTP (Multi-Terrain Pattern) uniforms. The MTP uniforms are like the DPM uniforms, where soldiers are not very visible while in a large desert area, however, the MTP uniforms are also great camouflage when hiding in a woodland area or even around buildings, in a more suburban-like
