DCCCD is a large district for new students and employees to navigate. New employees are not able to see the big picture of leadership because of the time and attention to detail at the campus level. One campus in particular, North Lake, a sister college of the district, has its own campus president, President Slekjo, who reports directly to the Chancellor of DCCCD. President Slekjo currently has the following leadership practices and or responsibilities at North Lake- to provide strategic leadership to the campus in order to ensure North Lake remains in formation with the overall district, board of trustees and Chancellors’ initiatives, to be the liaison between the college and the community so that businesses, social organizations and students…

Nichols paints the recruitment process as a frivolous experience meant to cater to a student’s every need. Nichols claims “Colleges now are marketed like multiyear vacation packages, rather a contract with an institution and its faculty for a course of educational study.” (72). This is unsound inductive reasoning on Nichols part. He does not offer sufficient evidence other than his own word or a few sporadic campus activities, very exclusive to the individual universities.…

McCandless’s decision to discard his identity and past life without a backward look was something that is understandable yet shouldn’t have happened. As stated in the article, his sister believed that his reason for leaving “in that extreme way, to go without telling anyone where he was…” was due to “a physically abusive, chaotic childhood that both siblings were forced to conceal.” This allows people to comprehend why he left under such drastic terms. However, he should not have left without telling anyone where he was going or how long he would be away. Having a rough childhood might not have been his main purpose for leaving, but it sheds light on why he didn’t inform anyone of his leaving.…

Although there is a clearly stated disciplinary consequence for her action, the administrative staff conflict with enforcing that punishment. In addition, Mr. Furtoski was concerned about jeopardizing Sheila’s honorable achievements and the renewed sense of pride it will bring to the school and community.…

“The streets are paved in sunshine.” This was the first statement I heard upon arriving at Stanford University. The woman who said those six words that caught me completely off guard approached me with a California-aged smile, casual and relaxed, and welcomed me with open arms. She introduced herself as an alumni of the university and proceeded to tell me about the great experiences she had as a student and the memories she created with her best friends in her “prime time”. As she rambled on, I realized that she said nothing about the stellar academics, the esteemed professors, or the endless professional opportunities offered at the University.…
