Brisk Pottery In Greek Art

The first image is of Brisk iced tea and cherry/limeade, pop, designed by Margaret Andersen. The historical element of this to me is Greek pottery, orientalising that was from around 700 to 600 BCE. At this time, they used animal and floral forms, tried to make black figures, had more than one colour to them, and told of myths and other tales. The pottery had more easy to make geometric patterns, over time this became to tell of Greek mythology. During the classical period the pottery used black and red for the style. After in the orientalising, the middle east became to influence how the Greeks made the pottery. The second image is of a Tide laundry detergent, designed by Donald Deskey. The historical element to the tide logo for me is the …show more content…
The colours used is mostly green and red, matching the colour of a limeade (green) and cherry (red). The deer is the idea of how it shows the 2 different tastes you would get drinking it. The historical element is a good idea because most people know Greek art, so it doesn’t make you have no idea what is going on in the product. The reason tide chose this art is that it’s really sample and it looks like it’s with the times. The idea of it’s just being a target with the name of the product over the top of the target. The use of only three colours (including the name tide) makes it easy to remember just yellow, orange, and blue. This design has been around before I was born and it looks modern to this very day. The historical element was a good idea because of it being was the time when made and being able to be used to this very day. The reason Mr. Clean chose this art is because it shows a male on the label. This is because it shows that males can also clean with Mr. Clean. The idea to make him real was a good idea because he shows him with no hair meaning he could be older, making older males think that it’s ok to use. The historical element was a good idea because it shows a real looking male …show more content…
The reason I went to this grocery store is because it’s in the same mall center is where I workout, this is also where I shop for most of my grocery’s. I had somewhat of an idea on what products that I wanted and because of me shopping there before helped me know where to go and take pictures of the products. Wal-Mart isn’t just a grocery store, it’s also like a store that sells other items, I looked at other products to see what kind of other products my have had historical elements. This lead me to be at the Wal-Mart, looking at all different kinds of products from toys to video game cover art, but because the exercise called for a grocery store, I only took pictures of items in their grocery area. The one that comes to mind is a game called Yoshi’s woolly world, the historical element to it is art nouveau, this is because it uses wool and makes it feel organic. They only used wool in the cover and looks like something one could make them self if they had

The sculpture I’ve picked depicts a woman swimming (debatable) as she holds an ibex or gazelle shaped dish, and it is almost as long as a hairbrush. It nests in a glass case with other pieces of the ibex motif just a few turns away from the Hatshepsut statuary room. The purpose of this essay is to detail the statuette’s properties, hopefully finding how the properties display specific qualities of Egypt in its eighteenth dynasty. I chose this item because I couldn’t help but make the connection of the item’s cosmetive purpose and ancient Egyptian’s frequent use of makeup, particularly kohl, which they rimmed around their eyes to protect them from the brutal sun’s glare. It is made of alabaster and greywacke, and the ankles and feet of the…

This artwork looks like it is from the Northern Renaissance and one of Albrecht Durer’s prints. Durer was an important artist from the Northern Europe and he combined the teachings of the Italian Renaissance with the practices of the Northern Europeans. This print is an example of what was produced during the Northern Renaissance, as seen in the extreme details found in the fur of the animals as well as the small patterns created on the wall from the lighting seeping through the window. There are some symbols meticulously placed within the picture like the skull near the window and the lion near the steps. The Northern Renaissance came about when several northern artists, like Durer, traveled to Italy and after studying the techniques and teachings…

One approach to dissecting the aforementioned questions is to use one societal model in order to question the social structures and norms that revolve around the community. In fact, this purpose can be magnified through the examination of ancient Greek and Roman art. Art is considered one constructive platform of communication for essentially all human beings; there are a multitude of cultural references that can be gathered from studying such art pieces in depth. Greek art is noted in that the use of specific symbols and stylizations all correlate to many common motifs and ideologies. Roman art, though similar, ties closer to politics than does…

The photo “Mermaids Hate Plastic” by Benjamin Von Wong features a vibrant color scheme. The extremely bright blue and green colors help to lead the viewer's eyes to the mermaid laying on the floor. On a first glance the clash of the blue and green against the neutral tan color create an elegant background for the mermaid laying on the floor. The mermaid is colored with a very bright orange and violet to draw the eye of the viewer to the mermaid. Bottles create a illusion of an ocean, but upon closer examination it is clear that they are not one body but many little bottles.…

In the world of advertisements, companies thrive on targeting a specific type of generation, sex, and product orientation. Advertisements rely on many things to attract their target buyer. Bright colors are one of many ways that consumers fall into the “mousetrap” that advertisers set to lure in the revenue and profits on their product. Another way that advertisers lure in customers is by using provocative and seductive images. In many cases, these images are correlated with colognes, aftershaves, perfumes, and scented body washes.…

The Different Sides of Symbols I always think that something means one thing, but one of my peers think it means something completely different than what I did. Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel, The Scarlett Letter, is a tale of two tales. One side of story shows bravery and beauty, while the other side shows weakness and darkness. When looking at the symbols that Hawthorn used, it is easy to think they each represent something dark. But when one takes a closer look at the symbols, each end up describing something good.…

Can you imagine being a little child that wandered away from your mom? My worst nightmare as a kid was getting separated and lost from my parents. Going to the grocery store or going to any big retail store such as Walmart, I would always hold my mom or dad’s hand so that I wouldn’t get lost. I could quite honestly say that being lost or separated from my parents would have been one of my greatest fears while growing up. I know that in psychology there is something called separation anxiety in which a little child will begin to cry when they are no longer near their parents.…
