With their jointed legs and pointed dactylus, soldier crabs are able to burrow underground and can remain secluded – by creating an air pocket around them – for as long as the tide is high. This…

Blackfish belong in the wild and not in captivity. During the video one of the trainers said “Tilikum; one of the blackfish, has a curved fin”. It is due to captivity because it is a proven fact that less that 1% of blackfish get curved fins, and the ones that do usually are in captivity. Curved fins can also be caused by having no space in which to swim freely which is overall unacceptable and inhumane .This is a good example on why blackfish belong in the sea instead of a trapped closed in place. Holding animals captive is cruel.…

Since the 1700s fishermen have taken advantage of the marshes and estuaries on our coastline. There are two types of fishermen; those who shrimp with the smaller vessels in bays and shallow water and those with larger vessels which shrimp offshore in federal waters. The purpose of my experiment is to determine if the brining meat reaction in the meat causes a richer flavor and keep it moist and if blanching method enhances the texture of rice noodles rather than plainly boiling them. My two questions for this experiment are “ Does brining the 16/20 shrimp before grilling it enhance the richness of the flavor and moisture ?” and “ Does blanching the rice noodle instead of plainly boiling enhance the texture of noodles?’ With the first question, I have learned that brining is a technique that submerges food in a salt solution to prevent moisture loss during cooking, creating succulent, juicy bites. When we dissolve salt into water, it dissociates into sodium ions and chloride ions, positively and negatively…

Deep in the scorching southern states of America you can find them in every muddy, muggy swamp. I’m not talking about alligators or even turtles, that’s right I’m talking about the little red creature called a crawfish. Or better yet in the backwoods referred to as the “mudbug.” If you ask any fishermen what a mudbug is they’ll tell you “it is a dang good fishing lure.”…
