Essay On Being A Nurse

I know there are millions of nurses in North America alone, but I decided to write about my mother, Brigitte Santos. Brigitte is a home health care nurse that has worked all of her life to get to where she is today. Brigitte is the most hardworking, over achieving, caring and responsible person I know. Brigitte has raised 2 kids all the while working hard and going to school. I personally have seen my mother start from the bottom and work her way up to be an extremely successful woman. She has worked her way up for a CNA, to an RN, to a SANE worker and Home Health care nurse. My mom has gone through a tremendous amount of challenges to get where she is today and I couldn’t be prouder. There are many benefits of being a nurse or RN. Many nurses get paid life insurance. Some life insurance policies only go up to a certain amount (i.e $25,000 that the hospital will cover, but more expensive life insurance policies, like If you want $50,000 in coverage, the hospital will cover $25,000; But you would have to pay the rest). Another benefit nurses get are paid holidays, sick leaves, and PTO (Paid Time Off). A big benefit nurses have, are Tax saving plans. At Cleveland Clinic and hospitals around the world, if you contribute a part of your salary to a savings account, the hospital will match your contribution. (Some hospitals contribute 100% of 4%) For instance, if you make $100,000 a year and contribute $4,000, the hospital will also make a contribution of $4,000, turning it into $8,000. Last but not least, a major benefit in the medical field is knowing you are helping people. Throughout the day you see dying and sick people and do your best to make them feel happy and promote health and wellness. This gives lots of satisfaction to nurses knowing they are doing a good
