“What is the the duty of a latter day saint? To do all good he can upon the earth.” Brigham Young did just that. Also known as the “American Moses” he helped save the Mormon religion and restore the gospel. Brigham Young was born from his father, John Young and mother, Abigail Young on June 1, 1801 in Whitingham, Vermont. He was baptised into the Mormon church in the spring of 1832 after a young missionary gave a humble testimony and that’s how it all started. He soon became a part of the Quorum of the twelve apostles, the church hierarchy. Brigham Young, an American religious leader is one of the most known in The Church Of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints and in American history.

It was a religious the base unit which served from July 1846 to July 1847.United States President James K Polk wanted 500 to 1000 Mormon volunteers to go to 4th Leavenworth and then to California on a one-year U.S . army enlistment they were already involved in the Mexican American War. As a volunteer unit of about 534 Latter day Saints men who are then led by Morgan company officers and commanded by regular US Army officers. On July 20th, 1846 the Mormon Battalion took their track 2000 miles from Council Bluffs Iowa to San Diego California. Members stayed in their military assignment for one to three years and some were nearly a decade. president Brigham Young said that not a single battalion member would be lost. Only 20 members died due to privations that they had suffered. There wasn't a single shot fired by the Mormon Battalion only toward or heard of bulls coming toward them. they arrived in San Diego on January 29th, 1847 making it the longest religious March and the United States history. He is thought to have died from a ruptured appendix. Some say that his last words were “Joseph! Joseph! Joseph!” hence the late Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon church. A lot of things happened during this time period. Because of his bold choice to move the members of the church from Illinois to Utah was one of the greatest things in religious US history. He saved hundreds maybe thousands of Mormons from being murdered just like Joseph Smith in the other men. Almost 80% of the people living in Utah are part of The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. There is now three universities named after b Brigham Young. He had done all good upon the earth.
