Brigg's Typology Analysis

The Waterhouse Center was an incredible experience and an appropriate use of class time. The activities served as an informal way to get to know our peers, as well as an opportunity to analyze our own behavior. As a member of group “A” led by Bernie, we successfully accomplished a majority of the different events on his property. I will explain how we experienced success and trouble as a group, as well as how I handled my Myer’s Brigg’s typology and Big 5 personality types in relation to other individuals. Initially, everyone in group “A” demonstrated a high level of flexibility, openness, and cohesion which enabled us to start off strong. We started by throwing the bean bags which warmed us up and made us more comfortable with each other’s …show more content…
This typology fits me fairly well considering my tendencies that I am aware of. Extraversion is a confusing distinction for me because most people that I meet provide feedback signifying that I express introversion. However, on my typology test I scored 21 in extraversion and 6 in introversion. My best guess is that I prefer extraversion, but habitually exhibit the traits of introversion as an attempt to appear more professional. I also feel in the grey area for sensing and intuition even though I scored 17 in sensing and an 8 in intuition. Thinking and feeling is the only trait that I am concrete about because I don’t let my feelings impact my actions. I was almost tied for judging and perceiving which fits me well because I am a planner, yet I exhibit great flexibility. During the Waterhouse Center activities I used my awareness of thinking as an extravert to quickly rattle off good ideas. I was also aware that the majority of my group expressed introversion, so I took long pauses and prompted them to provide input. I made sure to acknowledge them for their contributions to encourage and motivate them throughout the day. Since we did not share our Big 5 personality types, it was easier to use the Myer’s Brigg’s to generalize how I should act within the

My results from the 16 personalities quiz were the commander code ENTJ-T with a role of analyst and social engagement strategy. This self-assessment was spot on it was a tad scary; Extraverted I enjoy social interaction and being in slightly intimidating situations. Intuitive seeing as I love to learn about other people's perspective on things because my ideas aren’t necessarily the only or best ones out there. I enjoy creating hypothetical situations and sometimes just wonder... Thinking, the majority of the time I think more with my mind instead of my heart because sometimes that’s just a lot more practical and most times has better outcomes (in my opinion). Judging, when approaching situations I would much rather plan something out step…

Assessment one “My Basic Personality” showed that I was indeed an ENTJ. Those of the ENTJ personality type are born leaders. They can become frustrated and impatient when things don’t unfold according to their expected plan or time frame, evoking notions of the “Type-A” personality (Drenth, n.d.). Assessment two “Ambiguity” showed me something new about myself. Having intolerance of ambiguity means that you tend to perceive situations as threatening rather than promising (Robbins, 2008). My score was 21 which means I fall right in the middle with the mean score of 20. Assessment three “Creativity” revealed my score was a 10. Creativity is the ability to combine ideas in a unique way or to make unusual associations between ideas (Robbins,…

After taking the Carl Jung’s and Isabel Myer’s typology, I question my career choice of business. On the test, is states that I have a slight preference of introversion over extraversion by twelve percent, which is something I completely agree about. I also have a lean preference of sensing over intuition by twelve percent. My feelings do tend to get in the way of my thoughts. I used my feelings to make my decision. I also have a slight preference of judging over perceiving, which is something that surprised me. I’m not the type to judge but if I do I keep it inside. I never took this test before. The only thing that surprised me was having a preference of judging.…

Extraversion was characterized by breadth of activities (as opposed to depth), surgency from external activity/situations, and energy creation from external means.( Laney, Marti Olsen (2002). I agree with all my results except for E. Personally, I am often drained of energy at large events with many people and often need breaks from a crowd, which is the sign of an introvert. However, I know I enjoy spending times with small groups of people and usually gain more energy, which is attributed to extroverts. Therefore, I can not confidently label myself as either an introvert or an extrovert. I agree with I, F, and P because I often use how I feel about things and intuition to make decisions. Also, especially when dealing with people, I find it is better to observe during a conversation than judge because I give myself more information to make a conscious judgement on later. My interest test results concluded I show the most interest in artistic and enterprising areas. I agree with an interest in the artistic because ever since I was younger, I have always enjoyed expressing my creativity through the arts. I often did crafts, fine art, learned choreography, sang, and acted in plays and musicals. However, I am not clear on what it means that I have an interest in enterprising. My learning styles show a preference towards verbal, active, intuitive, and sequential learning. I think these results are accurate because I have noticed my learning style preferences throughout my academic career. When I am being taught new material,…

Each of these categories was composed of four personality types. I was classified as a Virtuoso type under the Explorer category. The Virtuoso is enigmatic, private, calm, and sometimes spontaneous. Their cool rationalism and practical realism tendencies lead them to have a permissive nature, which contributes to their fair, “do unto others” attitude. The Virtuoso’s strengths are their optimism, creativity, and adaptability. Their weaknesses are their stubbornness, introverted nature, and dislike of commitment. Oftentimes, Virtuosos’ social relationships suffer due to their need for a lot of personal space and concealment of their emotions because they are unsure how to express them. Their desire for freedom leads others to think of them as indifferent, insensitive, distant, and perplexing creatures. Although they are well-rounded people with a variety of interests, skills, and hobbies, Virtuosos dislike being bound to commitments. Still, many people are attracted to their open-mindedness and lax attitude. Furthermore, to force a Virtuoso into a mold is like becoming their greatest enemy. The comprehensive evaluation of the Virtuoso type is that they are practical, bold, and have a strong desire to learn and explore new things that nurture their desire for personal…

Determining if a person is extravert and introvert is based off how a person gets their energy. Extraverts thrive off of being around others while introverts rather keep to their self. Sensing and intuition pertains to how a person gathers information. Sensing personalities tend to think of the most practical way of doing things while intuition personalities like to think of the future possibilities. The thinking and feeling preference relates to how a person makes decisions. A thinker will be critical when needed while a feeler will be compassionate to others. Judging and perceiving reflect on the person’s lifestyle. Judging personalities often like to plan while perceiving personalities like to be spontaneous. A person’s answers to the MBTI will determine a score for each of these preferences. A times a person’s score for two of the preferences will be close, so a tie-breaker was created. Introvert, intuition, feeling, and perceiving are chosen when a tie occurs. After a person has determined their four-letter personality type, he or she can then understand how their personality type works in a team setting, how they learn best in a classroom, and numerous other helpful…

I have learned my learning style is a combination of auditory and visual. I only scored 5% lower for the kinesthetic learning style. This tells me I am someone who can use different learning styles efficiently. I like looking at the different visuals in text books. I also like writing down notes the teacher talks about in class. I learned that my Jungian Typology is INFP. I have taken this test before and got different letter combinations for the last two of the four letters. I have a moderate preference for introversion over extroversion. I never had a problem with being introverted. I do not like how being introverted has a negative connotation. I tend to be more introverted because when I am in a group of people who are rude, I would rather not waste time talking to them, other than about the work we are doing. If I am in a group of people who are pleasant, then I can talk and open up like someone who is extroverted. I have a moderate preference for intuition over sensing. I agree with this because my intuition is very strong. I trust my intuition because it is always right. I can feel if something will go right or wrong in different situations because of my intuition. I also can get a sense of who someone is just from the way I feel being next to them. I have a slight preference for feeling over thinking. I use my intuition to…

I felt that the attributes each type listed were representative of the way I operate and how I like to communicate and do my work. I was however surprised by how low the percentages were and I think this is reflective of the fact that any one person is not usually at the extreme end of the spectrum in terms of personality or communication style. For example, I am mostly introverted but I also have a few extroverted attributes. I think, therefore, that this test serves not to put people in a box but to make us more aware of and put down in concrete terms our attributes so we can better understand how we project to others and also comparing to other types, how different styles can create conflict and misunderstanding simply because two people operate and communicate differently. I think that when communicating in the future and selling my ideas, I will be more aware of trying to figure out the other person’s style and try to use some aspects of my style and learn others to find the best communication style for that situation and set myself up for success rather than a brick…

Extraversion was the segment, which I scored the least on (7 out of 10). I fully agree with this being my weakest of the five sections, as I have the tendency to be a loner. I am a friendly individual; on the other hand I do not view myself as completely being sociable. I usually am quite person, until I am comfortable with the people around me and depending on the situation I am in. The negative aspect with reference to not being an extrovert is that it can hold me back from meeting new people, shy away from outing or new…

    1. My personality type is ISTJ. I was not really surprised to get this because I have taken the full version test in high school, but I am happy to see that the results are consistent. An ISTJ is a natural organizer. I stands for Introvert, and I think this describes me well. I do like to share my opinion and have my ideas recognized, however, I am not a person that needs to be the center of attention. I would rather lead by example not force. I am perfectly okay with having time to myself. I think an introvert likes to understand something before trying it, and an introvert likes to work alone or with only a few people. S stands for Sensing. This means that I like to operate in a step-by-step manner where I know the information I am displaying…
