Who Was Sarah Winchester? In the 1840?s Leonard Pardee and his wife Sarah W. Burns had a baby girl, who they named Sarah Lockwood Pardee. Sarah was born in New Haven, Connecticut, also know as ?Belle of New Haven.? she had a wonderful childhood, she got her education through the best private school in Connecticut. Sarah learned and spoke four languages and played the piano beautifully. Sarah and William In the 1860?s, Sarah met Oliver Fisher Winchster ,Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut?s son, William Wirt Winchester. William worked in the family business of manufacturing the famous Winchester rifles. In 1862 William and Sarah got married and started there new, happy, life together. Four years later Sarah and William had a baby girl together, who was named Annie Pardree Winchester. A couple after Annie was born, she got very ill and pasted away from a mysterious childhood disease marasmus. After the pasting of Annie, Sarah became very depressed and never fully healed. In March of 1981, Sarah became more depressed after the death of her husband. William sadly passed away from tuberculosis. After the death of her husband, Sarah inherited millions of dollars and half of ownership of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Everyday she was brought in an additional thousand dollars a day.
