The Crucible is a server test or trail; the most common trail was the witchcraft trail. During the 17th century there were witch trails that took place in a place so called Salem also known as the infamous Salem located in the Massachusetts, during spring of 1692 a group of young girls claimed to be possessed by the devil and also accused serval women to ironically avoid punishment, these cases of witchcraft were heard in a special court in Salem in May 1692, the newly appointed by the governor of Massachusetts, William Phips, he ordered the establishment of a special Court of Oyer to hear and Terminer to decide on witchcraft cases for Suffolk. As the number of arrests increase so did the distrust of the community increased by the end of 1692 the court had executed nineteen men and women. Although the book is very similar to what actually happened sometimes you have to add a little juice to make the book even better, today I will compare and contrast the book ‘The crucible’ to the actual witch trails and historical accounts that really happened. …show more content…
This example was pretty shocking for me and another example was in the book we saw Giles Corey pressed to death before John Proctors death but he was pressed to death a month later after John’s proctor’s
