My nana was taking care of her terminally ill dad. She was trying to stay strong while taking care of three kids, her dad, and his house. My mom and aunt were with her at her dad’s house one annual Saturday of taking care of his backyard and house. He was a hoarder. They were picking up the backyard because the neighbors threw trash in the yard. The neighbor kids had made friends with my mom and aunt, and were helping clean up. Getting upset, my nana told the kids to go tell their dad’s to stop throwing trash. The little kids all scurried away. A few minutes later, around 10 men came out, angry. They were mad at my nana for telling them what to do. My nana loved her family and was trying to defend them. The men kept yelling at her, while she was hoping nothing physical would happen. Nana was tired of the trash. After a few minutes of yelling at each other, a big man came out, wearing a black cowboy hat. He then asked for peace. Both sides exclaimed why they were mad. Awhile later, everything was figured out. All the men went back in except for the big man. My nana was about to go in when the big man suddenly asked a question. He asked her calmly if she wanted to go out with him. Still heated from the argument my nana blurted she was married. The man said, so what. My nana walked away quickly. In the movie The Call Of The Wild, directed by Peter Svatek, Buck isn’t as aggressive, and is more arrogant. This made Buck better in the movie than the book, because it makes the audience like Buck more than the other dogs. In the movie Buck denies that he is a house pet, and goes out into the wild. This appeals to more audiences, because when Buck fights, he doesn’t make the dogs bleed as much in the movie, than the book. Other ways Buck is different in the movie, is that Buck wasn’t a St. Bernard and Scot Shepard mix in the movie, but he is in the book.…

He used to wander all over the Judge’s estate, often playing with the Judge’s sons and escorting the Judge’s daughters, before he was kidnapped by Manuel, the gardener, and brought to the Yukon territory. The Yukon territory has subarctic temperatures and mountainous terrains, making it hard to live in without proper equipment. Buck and the other dogs are living in the frozen terrain of northern Canada and they experience starvation, exhaustion, and freezing temperatures. Buck is put into a place where he must learn skills in order to survive the harsh conditions. Throughout the story we learn that Buck isn't just learning new skills, but is merely recovering primitive instincts. As you read the book, the author writes in way that seems as if Buck is going back to his old ways.…
