In the short story "Absolutely Normal Chaos" , the author makes the characters seem real by making them have a real life conversation. For instance , Dad tried to tell mom about the letter from Radene today. However , he was continually interrupted by his distracting children in various ways. First, it was Dougie and Dennis arguing. Then Tommy started throwing spaghetti on the floor and into his hair. Dad becomes frustrated because this commotion goes on every night. Once all of the family members calmed down somehow, Dad told that Aunt Radene wanted to send one of her seven children down here until he got "on his feet". Indeed, all the distractions and commotions this family faced actually happens at real family dinner tables.
