Brief Summary Of The Round By Julia Jarmond

The second plot is based on a woman named Julia Jarmond. She was born in Boston, United States but moved to Paris, France in her early 20s. She married a Frenchman called Bertrand Tezac and had a daughter, Zoë. She and Bertrand got divorced because Bertrand cheated on Julia. So they were no longer in love in the beginning of the book. Julia’s boss, Joshua, told her to write something about the Vel’ d’Hiv Roundup, as the 60th anniversary coming soon. Julia then does research and tries to find out more about the roundup, she discovers that the apartment Bertrand and her was going to move in was from the World War 2 and that Bertrand’s grandparents inhabited in that place before, she became obsessed with Sarah Starzynski’s story. Sarah was recorded that she was taken to Beaune-la-Rolande, but was not recorded to have returned or killed. She does more research and finds out she ran away from the camp, but she loses trace of Sarah after that. For example, in the text Sarah never gives up on saving his brother from the secret room. In the first part of the book, she solves problems and escapes the Nazi’s hands and continued on her journey to home. She’ve seen people die(Jews), lost family, and lost her friend Rachel while the Germans were searching for her. The significance of the theme in humans life are people give up sometimes on their dream, but Sarah didn’t, she fight her way through many danger and obstacles. Which people in the modern world need to copy and show respect to it. Also this is significant because for example me, sometimes give up on goals and dreams.
