The independent book I’m currently reading is Awake by Natasha Preston. The cover of the book is a dark and somewhat messy background with a red rose trapped in wire. The cover is related to the story because roses blossom then die, in the book the main character Scarlett ‘blossoms’ because the Eternal Light cult thinks she is The ‘Light.’ In the Eternal Light they believe that The Light, Scarlett has to be sacrificed in the final ritual. Eventually roses die, they were planning on murdering or sacrificing Scarlett to live for eternity. Every living thing also eventually dies, there’s no such thing as living forever.
