In the next book, there will likely be some continuation. The law that keeps Queen Lissa on her throne is still not overturned after the events from Bloodlines. This means that Jill would continue to be in danger and be under the protection of the Alchemists. The person who was repeatedly calling Nevermore (the tattoo shop that Keith was supplying special ink containing vampire blood and saliva) asking if any extremely tall and pale people had come in was never revealed. This could maybe play a part in the next book or have to do with the Moroi rebels trying to kill Jill to eradicate Lissa’s only tie to the crown. Due to the deep talk that Adrian and Sydney had at the end of the book, I feel that the two would have increased feelings for each other and maybe even date. One more epiphany is when Sydney learns that Ms. Tertwilleger has known all along about vampiric and alchemist affairs. Later in the book, Sydney alludes to “Ms. Chang’s hangover accusation” from events that took place earlier in the book (Mead 311). Imagery is apparent throughout the book when Jill and Adrian’s spirit bond. This formed when Adrian brought Jill from the brink of death creating the bond that allows them to share feelings among other things. Mead describes in detail how Adrian’s actions and feelings affect Jill. The pair also is an example of a dramatic foil. Adrian and his depression and party like behavior is a striking contrast to Jill’s innocence.
